SANFORD, Maine - A Rochester man has been arrested in a motel shooting that left a woman injured earlier this month.

William Hallinan Jr., 35, was arrested on Friday in Rochester, N.H., on a complaint for alleged reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon in connection with the June 14 shooting of a 31-year-old female victim at the Quality Inn at 1892 Main St.

The Class C felony charge is due to Hallinan being a prohibited person who is not allowed to possess a firearm, police said on Monday. They say more charges are expected.

Meanwhile, Hallinan remains held at York County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.

The shooting occurred on June 14 around 2:05 p.m. and resulted in the female being shot in the lower leg. She was taken to Maine Medical with nonlife threatening injuries.
