ROCHESTER - A Rochester man was arrested on Monday on a warrant for felony first-degree assault in connection with injuries his 9-month-old infant sustained last month.

Matthew Bowdon, 29, was released on personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned in Strafford Superior Court on Oct. 10.

Bowdon's charge stems from a police investigation that began on Sept. 19, when they were notified Bowdon's 9 month-old child was hospitalized with serious, but nonlife threatening injuries that night.

During the investigation it was determined by police that the injuries were caused by Bowdon, resulting from an ongoing pattern of abuse of the infant between June and September.

As part of his no bail agreement Bowdon is to have no contact with the child.

Police said due to the sensitive nature of the arrest no further details will be released at this time.
