DOVER - A Rochester man has been indicted on six domestic violence charges including false imprisonment and felony assault in connection with an August incident in Rochester.

Earl Shaffer, 39, of 11 King St., #2, faces five felony counts of domestic violence for allegedly grabbing the victim's arms and pinning her down on a bed, jabbing her throat with his hand, grabbing her throat with his hand and striking her in the forehead.

The false imprisonment charge is for allegedly blocking her from leaving a bedroom.

The incident is said to have occurred on Aug. 10.

Shaffer faces up to 42 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down on Thursday and released today.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather that enough evidence has been gathered to warrant a trial.
