Rochester man injured in Portsmouth collison on Sarah Long Bridge

PORTSMOUTH - A Rochester man was injured today when the vehicle he was driving collided with a truck pulling a box trailer on the Sarah Long Bridge in Portsmouth.

The crash occurred on the Route 1 Bypass around 5:50 a.m. when State Police say a 2020 Freightliner truck with a box trailer in tow traveling southbound was struck by a 2018 Toyota Corolla driven by Dakotah Cappelletty 24, of Rochester, who was traveling northbound, crossed the center line and clipped the rear axle of the box trailer.

Cappelletty sustained multiple nonlife threatening injuries and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for evaluation.

No injuries were reported to the driver of the Freightliner: Stephen Keith 52, of Lewiston, Maine.

The accident closed the Sarah Long Bridge for about an hour and a half while the Freightliner and passenger vehicle were recovered by a wrecker service. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
