ROCHESTER - Vehicular high jinks on a Friday night on Summer Street earlier this month led to the arrest of a Rochester man on several charges, including driving under the influence.
Rochester Police got involved a little before 9 p.m. on May 22 when they received a call for a possible intoxicated driver inside his vehicle on Summer Street.
When officers arrived at the scene they located the vehicle doing a burnout, going into the other lane of traffic and striking another vehicle, before attempting to leave the scene, according to Rochester Police Capt. Jeremy Aucoin.
A patrol officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Robert Gorham of Rochester. The officer could smell the odor of alcohol emitting from Gorham, Aucoin noted, so the officer conducted standard field sobriety tests, which led to Gorham's arrest for driving under the influence.
Gorham was also charged with conduct after an accident and criminal mischief, both Class B misdemeanor. He was also cited with violations for negligent driving and disorderly conduct.
