Rochester mom, Ex-English teacher turns love of writing into career of story telling

ROCHESTER - A longtime English teacher and Rochester mom who has written two books and is working on a third will headline the Third Annual Rochester Area Authors Fair next month.
JR Rainville, who will be this year's keynote speaker, said she's been fascinated her entire life with the craft of novel writing.
"I grew up loving to read stories, to tell stories," she said. "I've always had an active imagination and am constantly reading."
Rainville taught high school English in Manchester for 12, ending her full-time teaching career after she and her husband had their first child in 2015.
She now works part time as an academic adviser for the UNH College of Professional Studies.
She said giving up her full-time teaching career gave her a better "life/work" balance. It also gave her more time to do what she loves best, which is writing stories.
Her first novel, Sneakthief, hit the shelves in 2023, followed by her second work, Turncoat. Her third novel. Scapegoat, is in the works, she said.
Rainville's genre is fantasy, with LGBTQ themes and characters drawn from "the entire rainbow" percolating into plot-lines.
The Third Annual Rochester Area Authors Fair is set for April 11 from 1-4 p.m. It will be held at the outdoor covered pavilion at Hanson Pines Park, located at 68 Dominicus Way, Rochester.
The fair will highlight some of the Seacoast region's best writers.
Area book lovers and fellow writers are invited to come enjoy live readings, panel discussions, networking, book sales and book signings.
