Rochester's Christmas tree ready to take center stage today at Parson Main Square

ROCHESTER - The Department of Public Works for the City of Rochester announced recently that the Christmas Tree for the downtown Holiday Display will be donated by Mike Ferullo of 380 Cross Road.

According to Lisa Clark, DPW Administration and Utility Billing Supervisor, the tree was existing when Ferullo purchased his home and it has grown significantly since that time.

"He says he has maintained it and was able to decorate it for many years, but now it has grown too large," said Clark. "Mike has said that Christmas is his favorite holiday and he is very happy to donate the tree and participate in Rochester's annual tradition of selecting a local tree for the downtown Holiday Festivities."

The tree, a spruce, will be brought to downtown and put in position today. Urban Tree Service is donating its time and equipment and will work with Public Works to put it in place.

Public Works will be working throughout the month of November to get lights and decorations ready for the 5:30 p.m. tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 3 and the Rochester Holiday Parade on Dec. 5 from 3-6 p.m.

This year's decorations have been made by the Students at the Monarch School of New England, the St. Elizabeth Seton School, and the Children at the YMCA Child Care Center.
