MILTON - On April 1, 2022, Roger B. Daigle died at 88 years, surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was born to Solomon and Marie Daigle in Lille, Maine, on July 22, 1933. He was the youngest of 6 children, all of whom are deceased.

Roger grew up on his family's farm and attended Van Buren Boys High School in Northern Maine. He served in the Army during the Korean War and then went on to college, studying business at Husson University and Civil Engineering at the Wentworth Institute in Boston.

In 1957, Roger married his high school sweetheart, Ann Marie Albert. The young couple moved to Boston where they started their family, and eventually settled in Rochester, for many years. Later in life, they split their time between Milton and Florida.

Roger was a devout Catholic and a patriot. He exemplified the "American Dream," having been raised in modest means and managing to achieve success through very hard work. He lived by the "work hard, play hard" philosophy. A true entrepreneur, Roger partnered with Francis Grondin to develop manufactured housing communities in Peabody, Mass. His business eventually spread through the New England states and Florida. He also owned and operated Old Orchard Beach Campground; The campground is now owned by his 5 children and operated by two of his sons.

Roger was an avid outdoorsman and a fearless adventurer. He enjoyed sailing, scuba diving, fishing, lobstering, gardening, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, tennis and golfing. He was a member of Rochester Country club for over 60 years, and Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Fla., for 20 years. Roger had his pilot's license and flew both airplanes and helicopters for business use and pleasure. He and Ann traveled often during their retirement years and toured the United States by motorhome.

Roger supported his community as a Paul Harris Sustaining Member of the Rotary Club in Rochester. He also belonged to the Elks, The 100 Club, and the American Legion.

Roger lived a full and exciting life. He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Daigle, 3 Sons, Michael R. Daigle, David A. Daigle, John T. Daigle; 2 Daughters, Elaine M. Plante and husband Ken, Janet M. Acres and husband Eddie; 4 Grandchildren: Jacob Acres and wife Lauren, Jaylyn Acres, Kelley Plante, and Abigail Daigle; and 3 great-grandchildren, Finnley Mormon, Colter Acres, and Saylor Acres.
