NORTH BERWICK, Maine - Romona Robertson ... , born in Franconia, N.H., on Oct. 15, 1938, died at her home in North Berwick, on Nov. 8, 2023, with loved ones by her side. She was the beloved daughter of Harry and Martha (Smith) Bellen.
The name Romona means protecting hands or wise protector. This was a fitting name for our loved one. She was never disappointed in any of us, loved us no matter what, and always tried to protect us.
She leaves behind 5 children Shirley Britch of St Johnsbury, VT, Connie (Daryl) Frye of Eddington, Calvin Robertson of Lebanon, Lorraine (Joseph)Briggs of North Berwick, and Tracy Robertson of Sanbornville, NH. In addition to her children, Romona had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She grew up with her sisters Charlotte Marcou of Lebanon, and Caroline Cole of Farmington, NH. She is predeceased by her parents Harry and Martha (Smith) Bellen and son-in-law Alton Britch of St Johnsbury, VT.
Romona was employed at local shoe shops, Hubbard and Encore Shoe, until she became a CNA at Rochester Manor. It was there she became employee of the month. When she left Rochester Manor she assisted her daughter Shirley in providing loving home care to clients.
She enjoyed spending time completing find-the-word puzzles and watching A&E crime shows. Her favorite activities however were times spent with family and friends. Her daily phone calls with her children and watching visiting grandchildren race around the house are what gave her the most joy.
The family would like to thank Ingrid and Amy at Cornerstone Hospice for their compassion and guidance through Romona's final days.
