RR warning light stanchion replaced after takedown by plow

LEBANON - A four-man crew from New Hampshire North Coast Railroad was busy Monday afternoon repairing a traffic warning lights stanchion at the intersection of Garage Way in Milton and Prospect Hill Road and Champion Street in Lebanon.

The stanchion was taken down by a Lebanon plow last Tuesday when it was plowing during the ice storm.

According to Road Commissioner Tom Torno, a contract plow driver was coming down Prospect Hill Road and preparing to take a right onto Champion when a vehicle coming from Milton drove in front of the plow while turning left onto Champion.

"He had to hit his brakes and the back of the plow truck slid into it," Torno said today.

The construction crew chief with N.H. North Coast said the stanchion wasn't destroyed but many parts had to be replaced. He estimated the cost of the replacement project to be about $7,000.
