ROCHESTER - The New England Language Center's International Art Gallery will be holding a Russian Christmas Bazaar on Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public and will feature an exhibit of unique contemporary Russian art and traditional Russian icons, storytelling, Russian cartoons, and historical-cultural information about the crafts.

Among the items available are Matryoshka (nested doll) sets, "Khokhlama" bowls, spoons, candlesticks, hand-painted figurines, icons, carved wooden toys and Russian holiday greeting cards.

All are unique pieces which celebrate authentic Russian arts and culture. As they browse through the exhibits, visitors will learn background and details about Russian folk traditions and items on display.

There will all be an opportunity to color Russian Troika and Grand Father Frost Christmas cards for a small contribution.

Proceeds will go to support Russian artists and artisans and New England Language Center cultural programs.

The center is at 16 Hillside Drive off Lowell Street.
