SANBORNVILLE - Is there anything better than enjoying a relaxing Sunday brunch while looking out a picture window at a pastoral scene as soft background music plays at the perfect volume.

Now add legit fine dining in which attention to detail is foremost, and you're in for a dining experience you'll want to return to.

Where? In Sanbornville at the Wakefield Inn, an unpretentious bed and breakfast that boasts as good a brunch as any in the Seacoast. And I'm talking Portsmouth to Ossipee.

The Wakefield Inn's Italian Omelette, with Italian sausage, peppers, onions, mozzarella cheese, home fries, gluten free toast and fruit.

Let's start with the rustic ambiance of this circa 1804 structure. Built by a seaman who wanted to own the largest home in Wakefield, it was converted into an inn in 1890.

Much of that 19th century charm remains, a perfect complement to its haute cuisine.

But man doesn't subsist on country charm, alone, so let's to the victuals.

First we started with a Sunday eye opener, an Irish root beer made with Jameson, Bailey's,

butterscotch schnapps and root beer.

I can also tell you that I am a coffee snob, and the inn's coffee is deliciously deep roasted and good and strong, too.

Now let's to the main event.

I got the Italian Omelette ($14), an enormous affair that came with Italian sausage, peppers, onions, mozzarella cheese, home fries, gluten free toast and fruit.
Attention to detail is apparent in all of Executive chef Christina Nicastro's plating, with the sausage all cut up and under the omelette right where you want it. The home fries were cubed, golden brown and crispy.
The fresh fruit bowl, which would likely go for $6 ala carte, was skillfully sectioned and at room temperature for maximum flavor, not overchilled.
Meanwhile, Martha, the Tom Brady fan that she continues to be, got the Avocado Toast and Salmon ($15), which was toast topped with smashed, seasoned avocado, smoked salmon and poached eggs, with home fries and fruit.

and salmon and poached eggs on toast was actually more intoxicating than the root beer, she said.
Our server, Hannah, was spot on, friendly and attentive, but not obsequious.

To put it succinctly, from ambiance to food to service, this is an experience not to be missed.
