ROCHESTER - Ruth Lorraine "Lori" (St. Laurent) Bissell entered eternal rest with our Lord on Thursday, September 14, 2017 after a courageous battle with an impending illness. Ruth was a dedicated mother and loved her daughter, granddaughter and her "kitty" Squeaky.
She grew up in Portsmouth, attending the former Whipple Elementary School, Portsmouth Jr. and Sr. High School. She also can be remembered for working the concessions for every event at Leary Field from 1965 thru 1968.
She was employed by notable companies like Applebaum's Grocery in Portsmouth, Data General in Portsmouth, The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Cumberland Farms in Rochester. Ruth liked to reminisce about her longtime Portsmouth friends and downtown oldies like Gilly's, the old bowling alley above Jumping Jays and dancing at the Pine Grove Pavilion. She loved to watch and talk about the Red Sox, New England Patriots and Celtics.
She is survived by her daughter Shaunna Matthews; granddaughter Ashley Matthews; brother Robert St Laurent Jr.; nieces Felicia St. Laurent, Cassaundra St. Laurent (God daughter) and nephew Douglas St. Laurent Jr.
She was predeceased by her mother Ruth H. (Greenwood) St. Laurent; father Robert W. St. Laurent Sr., siblings Deborah Nagy, Douglas St. Laurent Sr. and Phillip St. Laurent.
