SALEM - Autopsies conducted Monday on a Salem couple show that their deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, according to a Dept. of Safety press release.

The autopsies were performed by Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie Duval, who determined that 47-year-old Jennifer L. Barrett died of a single gunshot wound to the head, while 41-year-old Charles W. Molinari's death was caused by a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The couple's bodies were found inside their home on Bodwell Avenue in Salem on Saturday.

Although the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident remains active and ongoing, based on evidence gathered to date authorities are investigating this as a possible murder-suicide in which Molinari fatally shot Barrett before taking his own life.
