NORTH BERWICK - A Sanford man has died in a car crash on Ford Quint Road in North Berwick.

Kevin Manion, 47, was headed southbound on Monday around 7:30 a.m. when his Jeep went into the opposite lane, then swerved back and slammed into a tree, according to North Berwick Police Chief Stephen Peasley. The crash occurred in the area of the intersection of Fox Farm Hill and Ford Quint roads, according to official reports.

Minion, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was not wearing his seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Peasley said speed was not a factor, but they are awaiting toxicology tests to see if drugs or alcohol may be to blame.

Ford Quint Road runs between Fox Farm Hill Road and Valley Road just west of the Sanford Country Club.

The crash remains under investigation.
