Sanford Police looking for help in locating stabbing suspect

SANFORD, Maine - Sanford Police today are asking for the public's help in locating the suspect in a stabbing that occurred on Bodwell Street on Wednesday.

Jonathan Gillis, 23, of Sanford, is wanted on an aggravated assault charge, a Class B felony.

Police got involved when they responded to the stabbing on Wednesday around 7:30 a.m. and located a male victim who had sustained a stab wound, according to a release from Sanford Police on Friday.

The victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, officials say.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Lieutenant Adams of the Sanford Police Department or call the tip line at 207-324-9170, extension 4.
