Firefighters responded to the fire around 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday after getting a report of a 911 call for a fire at 51 Morse St. The caller said they were inside the house and reported that a fire had started in the chimney and was extending to the porch of the home.
An additional 911 call from the house at 1:50 a.m. relayed that they were trapped inside the home because of the spreading fire.
When members of the Troy Fire Department arrived at the scene minutes later they found heavy fire conditions at the home, according to a release from the Dept. of Safety. When firefighters entered the burning residence they found two people and brought them outside where they provided immediate emergency medical care.
An unknown numbers of pets also died in the fire, safety officials said.
