ROCHESTER - City officials announced today that several employees who were evacuated during a Monday haz-mat incident at City Hall were checked out at an area hospital and later released.

City Hall, meanwhile, opened as usual today after haz-mat crews completed work overnight to ensure the safety of the building following Monday's closure over a suspected hazardous white powder found inside a package delivered to the city's IT department.

The package showed it was an Amazon delivery. IT technicians had ordered a half dozen new computer mice from the online merchandizing giant recently.

The noontime evacuation on Monday was followed by a large response from two haz-mat teams as well as city fire and police.

Meanwhile, federal officials have taken custody of the suspicious package and will run a series of tests on the white powdery substance found inside.

There was no immediate word on when the analysis might be completed.
