ROCHESTER - Sheryle L. (Backus) Riss, 62, of Spencer Ave in Rochester died Tuesday February 23, 2021, at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born February 1, 1959 in Boston to Murray J. and Margaret A.(Patterson)(Backus) Rich.

Sheryle was raised in Massachusetts and has lived in Rochester since 1991. She worked in the food service and patient care industry and last worked in the kitchen at the Rochester Manor and the Gafney Home. She was a member of the PTA and was a past Scout leader. Sheryle enjoyed cooking, traveling, and in recent years painting with her daughter Sarah. Most important was her love for her children, Sarah and Tim, for whom she cared deeply her whole life.

Surviving family include her mother Margaret Rich of Marlborough, Mass., her daughter, Sarah Riss of Rochester, her son, Tim Riss and his wife Mary of Rochester, her brothers; Michael Backus (Nina) of Sandy, UT and Daniel Rich of Millbury, Mass. her sisters; Carmen Backus-Davis of St. Petersburg, Fla, Sandra Nadeau (Roland) of Ashby, Mass. and Kathy Carmosino (Peter) of Hubbardston, Mass., her grand-daughter, Sawyer Riss, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
