Somersworth man arrested in baseball bat fracas that involved several kids

SOMERSWORTH - Police say a Somersworth man tried to hit several children with a baseball bat as well as a Good Samaritan who tried to break up the fight.

The ugly incident unfolded around 7:10 p.m. on Monday when Somersworth Police received a report that a man was trying to assault several youngsters in the area of 59 Winter St.

During the incident an adult male tried to intervene provoking the subject to threaten him with a baseball-bat type weapon.

When police arrived the suspect retreated to his apartment.

Arrest and search warrants were prepared for the suspect and his apartment where Nicholas Emond, 32, of 70 Winter St., APT 1C, was arrested today around 10:45 without further incident.

Emond stands charged with three counts of criminal threatening, one count of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct and falsifying physical evidence.
