Somersworth man dies in head-on collision with pickup truck in North Berwick

NORTH BERWICK, Maine - A 39-year-old Somersworth man died on Wednesday when his SUV collided head-on with a pickup truck on State Route 9 in North Berwick.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m., North Berwick police said on Thursday.

Christopher Sousa, of Somersworth, who was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Trax, was pronounced dead at the scene.

James Hasty, 37, of Berwick, who was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup, was taken to Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, N.H., with what officials described as not life threatening.

North Berwick police said a preliminary investigation showed Sousa's vehicle crossed the center line and hit Hasty's vehicle head-on.
