Somersworth man nabbed by marshals after spotted in Dover

CONCORD - The United States Marshals Service announced the Dover arrest of a Somersworth man on Thursday.

Darien James Young. 27, was wanted on multiple outstanding arrest warrants including a bail violation warrant issued by the Strafford County Superior Court on an original charge of assault with a deadly weapon. Another warrant for Young was issued by Rockingham County Superior Court for failing to appear on an indictment for three counts of assault by a prisoner, resisting arrest or detention and filing a false report.

Young is also a suspect in a couple of ongoing criminal investigations in Strafford County with additional charges pending.

On Thursday morning a person believed to be Young was seen by investigators getting into an SUV as a rear passenger. After following the vehicle for a distance, the vehicle was stopped by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force at the intersection of Dover Point Road and Route 16 in Dover.

Young was located hiding in the far rear of the SUV under a pile of clothing and blankets. He was removed from the vehicle and arrested. After the handcuffs were on, Young claimed to have a medical issue and was transported and treated at a local hospital.

After being medically cleared and released from the local hospital, Young was transported to the Strafford County Jail for processing and holding pending his initial court appearances on his outstanding warrants.
