South Berwick woman pleads guilty to pilfering nursing home patient's Oxys

CONCORD - A South Berwick, Maine, nurse pleaded guilty on Thursday to taking a nursing home patient's Oxycodone for her own use.

Jennifer Blaisdell, 47, pleaded guilty in Strafford County Superior Court to one count of possession of a prescription drug, a class A misdemeanor.

On January 19, 2017, while working as a licensed practical nurse at a long-term care facility in Dover, Blaisdell unlawfully possessed the prescription drug, Oxycodone, which belonged to a resident at the facility, according to court documents.

Blaisdell was sentenced to 12 months in the House of Corrections and fined $1,000, both of which were suspended for 5 years. As conditions of the suspended sentence, Blaisdell must permanently surrender her privileges to practice as an LPN in both Maine and New Hampshire.

Additionally, Ms. Blaisdell is prohibited from caring for sick, elderly, and/or vulnerable individuals, and from working in any position where she is responsible for handling controlled drugs. She is also required to obtain a licensed alcohol and drug counseling evaluation and must participate meaningfully with any recommendations made.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Bryan Townsend II, and Attorney Thomas Worboys, of New Hampshire's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
