PORTSMOUTH - A Barrington woman is dead and five others injured in an early Thanksgiving morning rollover crash in which speed and impairment were factors, police say.
Portsmouth Police responded around 1:15 a.m. for a report of a rollover crash involving a single vehicle at the junction of the Route 1 Bypass South and the Portsmouth traffic circle.
A preliminary investigation at the scene of the crash indicated that a 2018 Porsche Macan driven by Tyler N. Troy, 22, of Northwood, had been traveling on the Route 1 Bypass South approaching the traffic circle when the vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway. It then ran onto a curbed divider, entered the travel portion of the circle, and traveled into the grass median where it rolled over several times.
In addition to Troy, five other occupants were present in the Porsche at the time of the crash, several who were ejected from the vehicle.
Portsmouth Police Officers who had been nearby at the time of the crash as well as a number of passing motorists stopped to render aid to the occupants until emergency medical services arrived.
Upon arrival of emergency medical services, four were transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment of serious injuries while Troy and an additional occupant were transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for treatment of what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.
About five hours after the crash, Drew Ceppetelli, 21, of Barrington, succumbed to injuries at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
While Troopers investigated the scene and emergency personnel worked to facilitate the removal of the involved Porsche along with the associated debris, the Portsmouth traffic circle was closed about five hours.
The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (CAR) Unit responded to the scene to assist with the investigation and processed the scene with the assistance of the Portsmouth Police Department Unmanned Aircraft System (Drone) Unit.
Many additional agencies assisted at the scene of the crash to include the Portsmouth Police Department Patrol Division, Portsmouth Fire Department, Newington Fire Department, Rye Fire Department, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, the Rockingham County Attorney's Office, and National Wrecker Service.
Based upon preliminary investigation at the scene, excessive speed and impairment were identified as potential factors in this crash but all aspects of this crash remain under investigation by Trooper First Class Nathaniel D. Goodwin of New Hampshire State Police CAR Unit.
Anyone with information pertaining to this crash is asked to contact Trooper First Class Goodwin by email at Nathaniel.D.Goodwin@DOS.NH.GOV or by contacting New Hampshire State Police Headquarters at (603) 223-4381.
