Springvale man in custody on manslaughter, DUI charges in Mother's Day crash

SPRINGVALE, Maine - A Springvale man indicted on manslaughter and aggravated OUI charges was arrested this afternoon by York County Deputies and Sanford Police.

Olaf Nordman, 51, was arrested at a Sanford apartment around 1:30 p.m. on a warrant for manslaughter and aggravated OUI.

Nordman is alleged to have been the operator of a motorcycle that left the roadway and crashed, killing his passenger, Marisa Standley, 27. of Springvale. The crash occurred on May 9 (Mother's Day) on Emery Mills Road in Shapleigh.

Standley was pronounced dead at the scene from serious head trauma. Neither she nor Nordman were wearing helmets.

A York County Superior Court grand jury indicted Nordman for manslaughter, aggravated OUI, and operating without a driver's license.

According to her obit, Standley was an expert snowboarder, and earned her PSIA/AASI snowboarding teaching certification to become Sunday River's youngest professional instructor at 16. She leaves behind a 4-year-old son.
Nordman is currently being held at the York County Jail on $50,000 cash bail.

The York County Sheriff's Office was assisted in the investigation by the York Police Department.
