State Police seeking help in rash of car break-ins

Surveillance image from a local convenience store of persons of interest police are looking for who may have information on some of the car break-ins in Lebanon last month.

LEBANON - Maine State Police are dealing with a rash of car break-ins for the month of July and asking the public’s help in solving the crimes and reducing future incidents.

State Police Sgt. Jonathan Shapiro, who heads the trooper unit in charge of Lebanon, said more than 15 car break-ins were reported during the month.

Shapiro told The Lebanon Voice today that these burglaries are occurring between midnight and 6 a.m. He said many of the break-ins are in the Jim Grant, West Lebanon Road, and Center Road areas.

Police are working several viable leads and do have suspects, but in the meantime, residents are asked to be extra vigilant for suspicious activity and to make sure they lock their cars, especially at night.
