Steve Spinney ... enjoyed hiking, photography; at 61

ROCHESTER - Steve Spinney also known as "Spinney" died unexpectedly on June 27, 2023 at Frisbee Memorial Hospital due to an unexpected illness.

Steve was born on March 20, 1962, in Milton, Mass., to parents Barbra Hughes and William McNeil and raised by his stepfather Cleveland Spinney in Boston. At 15, Steve moved to N.H. where he went to school at Austin Cate Academy. Steve resided in Rochester for the remainder of his life.

Steve was a very funny, well-loved person who loved spending time with family and friends. He loved biking, walking, driving up to the mountains and hiking them. He also loved taking pictures and sometimes entering them in the fair, listening to music and just being the life of the party.

Steve leaves behind his daughter Ashley Spinney and her three children Payten, Adrian, and Timothy Jr. His girlfriend of 16 years Linda Cassell and stepchildren Cameron Cassell and Jayden Taylor and her two children; his sister Claire Spinney as well as other siblings and many friends.

Steve is predeceased by his parents Barbra Hughes and William McNeil as well as stepfather Cleveland Spinney and his lifelong guide and friend who was like a father to him Nelson McLean.
