WEST LEBANON - Firefighters from three communities are battling a pesky brush fire that broke out today near the Prospect Hill Road cemetery in West Lebanon.

The fire was called in to 911 by Claire Randlett of Prospect Hill Road who was walking her dog in the area of the cemetery around 1:40 p.m.

"It was a huge billowing ball of smoke and fire when I first saw it," said Randlett.

Within just a few minutes Milton Fire and Rescue was on scene, followed soon after by Lebanon Fire and Rescue and several vehicles from Rochester Fire, including their Forestry Truck.

Firefighters were able to get a hose on the blaze, while others carried containers of water toward the charred area to further battle a pesky blaze on a breezy, warm afternoon in West Lebanon.

Around 2:50 p.m. another Lebanon Fire and Rescue fire truck arrived on scene as well as a second Lebanon ambulance.

The ambulances weren't seen treating anyone, but were likely on hand to treat firefighters who could become dehydrated while fighting the fire.

No official word was immediately available on the size of the acreage charred, but it looked to be about an acre or so.

The cause of the blaze is not known as of this posting.
