Subject remains at large in Maine mass shooting that left at least 18 dead

LEWISTON, Maine - New info released during a 10:30 a.m. press conference at Lewiston City Hall indicates that 18 people were killed and 13 wounded in Wednesday night's two mass shooting incidents.

Maine law enforcement agencies have named Robert R. Card, 40, of Bowdoin, a person of interest in the case. He has been identified as a former gun instructor who has experienced mental health issues over the summer.
The shooting and inability to immediately locate Card prompted a county-wide shutdown, which is expected to continue today. Lewiston, Lisbon and Bowdoin residents are being told to shelter in place. Stores in the area of the shootings are expected to be closed today.

Card, reported to have military experience, is considered armed and dangerous and is not to be approached, according to safety officials.
The shootings took place at Sparetime Recreation, a bowling alley; and Schemengees Bar and Grill.

The first attack occurred around 6:55 p.m. at the bowling alley, the second about 10 minutes later at the bar.
