ROCHESTER - The threat of Tropical Storm Lee put a damper on Granite State crowds on Saturday, but blue skies and warm temps beckoned thousands to the fairgrounds on Sunday.

While getting into the fair's vast parking area was a piece of cake the first three days, on Sunday cars were backed up halfway down Lafayette Street by noon when the fair opened.

The Exhibition Hall was bustling, with folks buying homemade crafts, getting free Bibles and enjoying warm Apple Crisp at the lunch counter.

"I've seen more people today than I did all of Thursday, Friday and Saturday," quipped one exhibitor.
Food vendors were doing a brisk business as well selling snow cones, cotton candy and of course sausage subs and those delicious french fries.
The fair will now take a three-day hiatus before reopening for its second final four-day stretch on Thursday when the Grandstand event will be an Enduro Cross, followed by Truck Pulls on Friday, Bus Derby on Saturday and a Demolition Derby on Sunday.
The extended forecast calls for a nice stretch of weather from Thursday through Saturday with variable cloudiness and cooler temps on Sunday.
