LAKE WALES, Fla. - Susan E Carley (Bolio/Marble), 76, of Lake Wales and Milton, N.H., died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday March 11, 2023, after a period of declining health.

Susan was born July 16, 1946, in Cambridge Mass. Susan spent her childhood in South Berwick Maine, graduating from South Berwick (now Marshwood) High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation she married John Marble and had 3 children. She later married Ed Carley in 1986.

Susan loved animals, especially horses. The South Berwick homestead often had cats, dogs, horses, sheep, rabbits, and a pot belly pig. She was a longstanding member of Silver Heels Riding Club, Seacoast Associated Riding Clubs, Mousam Saddle and Harness Club and a founding member of the Southern Maine Association of Riding Trails. Susan volunteered many hours to club events. She enjoyed quilting and gifted many quilts to family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, baking and making jams and jellies to share. She also loved to play cards and cribbage with family.

After retirement Susan and Ed bought a fifth wheel camper and toured the entire U.S. including a drive to Alaska. They spent many years traveling, eventually settling in Lake Wales. Susan and Ed loved to travel, visiting Europe, Hungary and Costa Rica.

Susan was adopted at birth and recently located her biological family. They were happy to welcome her into their family.

Susan is survived by her husband of 38 years Ed Carley; children Leanne Roberson and fiance Eric Hatch of Somersworth NH; Sandra Galarneau and Tom Daigle of Milton; Debora Marble-Coughlin and husband Kevin Coughlin of Kittery, Maine. Grandchildren Anthony Roberson and wife Katherine of Manchester N.H.; Rhys Daigle of Milton; Step children David Carley and wife Cindy of Cornersville Tenn.; Donna Denley and husband Mark of West Sand Lake N.Y.; Belle Bradford and husband Bill of Idabel Okla., many nieces and nephews, 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her adoptive parents Henry and Mildred Bolio, brother Ernest Bolio and former husband John Marble.
