EPPING - Over 220 traffic stops resulted in 79 citations and nine arrests during a driving under the influence (DUI) saturation patrol in the Seacoast area and portions of the Spaulding Turnpike.
Beginning at noon last Wednesday through the early morning hours of Thursday State Troopers assigned to Troop A barracks participated in a high-visibility DUI saturation patrol in the seacoast area, with a focus on major corridors in Rockingham County as well as a portion of Route 16 (the Spaulding Turnpike).
This initiative was funded by the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and allowed for a larger contingency of Troopers to focus on traffic enforcement.
During the initiative, Troopers stopped 224 vehicles, resulting in 79 citations for a variety of violations. In addition, 9 people were arrested for various offenses.
Robert J. Stryke, 64, of Somersworth, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of liquor and lane control.
Karen T. Boston, 40, of Exeter, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of liquor.
Luis Gerardo Saldana Meza, 29, of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, was arrested on a charge of aggravated driving under the influence of liquor (driving 30mph or greater over the speed limit).
Rickie G. Montgomery, 67, of Somersworth, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of liquor and arrest on a warrant (other local police agency).
Scott S. Rand, 60, of Hampton, was arrested on a charge of operating after certification as a habitual offender.
Aiden P. Kepple, 16, of Litchfield, was arrested on a charge of reckless operation.
Darby A. Burnham, 29, of Dover, was arrested on charges of alcohol ignition interlock circumvention, operating without a motorcycle license and speeding.
Shaimir Ameen Blackwell, 31, of Philadelphia, Pa., was arrested on charges of driving after suspension, operating without lights and Sherrill's Law (move over) violation.
Ayia Aribi, 23, of Biddeford, Maine, was arrested on a charge of reckless operation.
During the upcoming holiday season, Troopers will continue similar enforcement initiatives.
The New Hampshire State Police encourage all drivers to make safe choices before getting behind the wheel and remind everyone that impaired driving is preventable.
Anyone who observes a suspected impaired driver should call 911 immediately and provide their exact location, including street names and highway mile markers, a plate number, and a description of the vehicle involved, along with the details of what was observed.
