ROCHESTER - When you walk into a tire store you expect to smell, well, tires, but that's not the case at Country Tire and Service.

Instead the only aroma you'll experience when you open the door is an extremely pleasant one, that of an Aroma Joe's built right into the service center's waiting room.

"This is the best place to get work done on your car," said one man sitting at a table watching TV in the service center's spacious waiting room, which does double duty as an Aroma Joe's.

"It's a great synergy," said Ron Poulin, who owns Country Tire and Service and its Farmington Road building, which also houses an Enterprise Rent A Car. "Some say they hate smelling tires, so it's been a great positive."

To make the experience even more attractive, Country Tire picks up the tab for your first cup.

The synergy has been positive for Aroma Joe's, too, according to Aroma Joe's Marketing and Social Media Manager Tonya Swart.

"Country Tire is great for us," Swart said today. "When someone's waiting they can go in to the waiting room, get a coffee and buy a breakfast sandwich. And we also get traffic off the streets. We love being in Rochester."

And Rochester and environs loves Aroma Joe's.

The oft-kiosked coffee giant actually began in Shoreyville Plaza on Highland Street in East Rochester 16 years ago and now boasts 40 locations throughout New Hampshire and Maine as far north as Orono and as far west as Keene.

And while they used to be known for their roadside coffee huts with no microphones, they're now branching out to include eat-in coffeeshops and partnering with other restaurants and convenience stores.

In Dover, N.H., on Central Ave they opened a kiosk alongside the Black Dog Car Wash.

"We are expanding to partner will different businesses," Swart added.

So you'll also find them with Subway restaurants in Lee, South Berwick, Maine and Durham among others.

In all now there are 40 Aroma Joe's, 20 of which are franchised, Swart said.
