SANFORD - The State Fire Marshal's Office says three Sanford boys have been charged with arson in connection with the fire that destroyed the Stenton Trust Mill this weekend in Sanford.

The trio, a 12-year-old and two 13-year-olds - were arrested Sunday and early this morning and were taken to the Long Creek juvenile detention facility in South Portland. Their first appearances in court will be scheduled once paperwork is filed in Sanford District Court today.

Meanwhile, two homeless men who often slept in the mill and were feared dead were found this morning safe and unharmed, state police said today.

Fire Marshals will be assisted today by investigators from the Federal bureau of ATF, along with State Police, Sanford Police and the Sanford Fire Department. Excavation equipment is being brought to the site to help stabilize the building.
