ROCHESTER - You may have heard of Wacky Wednesdays.

Well, Rochester Police were living it last Wednesday as they dealt with four downtown accidents, including three DWIs in less than an hour.

Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said the perfect storm of twisted metal all got started around 5:40 p.m. with a three-car crash at the intersection of Union and North Main streets, a crash that shut down traffic in the area for about 50 minutes.

Pinkham said the call came in for a possibly impaired driver who'd hit a car, then tried to drive off hitting another car before coming to a stop.

David E. Dumas Sr., 50, of 13 Court St., Rochester, was charged with his second DUI.

Pinkham said it appeared Dumas' vehicle turned right from Union Street onto North Main Street, but took too wide a turn and hit a pickup truck that had stopped for a red light. When Dumas hit the pickup he continued on and hit a parked vehicle, a Dodge Durango. Dumas was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries

While working the three-car crash, a female motorist drove around an officer directing traffic and drove toward the accident scene while the road was shut down, Pinkham said, adding another officer was able to stop her. She was also determined to be impaired. Arrested for DUI was Kellie Ann Ouellette, 53, of Autumn Street, East Rochester.

Around 6:12 p.m. while officers were still dealing with the two incidents, another accident was reported on Bridge Street where occupants reportedly fled the scene leaving the vehicle behind.

Pinkham said police arrested a female for operating after suspension, but her name wasn't available as reports are still not finalized. He said police have still not determined the cause of the accident but it may have been from all the commotion in the area from the previous crashes.

The final crash of the afternoon occurred around 6:25 p.m. when a single car rollover was reported on South Main Street by Care Pharmacy.

It was reported that 48-year-old Daniel Gill of Dover was operating a truck when it hit a curb, then a lamppost and rolled over before landing back on its wheels.

Gill was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what was were describes as nonlife threatening injuries. He was also arrested for DUI.

South Main between Franklin Street and Common Street was shut down for some 30 minutes.
