FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Foxborough Police are seeking arrest warrants for three Rhode Island men who were allegedly involved in a fatal confrontation with a New Hampshire man at last month's Patriots-Dolphins game at Gillette Stadium.
Dale Mooney, 53, of Newmarket, died moments after the confronation during the Dolphins-Patriots game on Sept. 17.
Foxborough Police Chief Michael Grace issued a statement today saying they were pursuing charges.
According to the statement, "Police detective were able to review numerous witness interviews and multiple angles of video capturing the incident as part of the investigation."
The complaints are scheduled for a probable-cause hearing but the exact date has not been set.
If probable cause is found, then the names of the individuals will be released and they will be booked.
Witnesses said Dolphins fans began taunting Mooney long before the confrtontation.
In the days after the incident one man who said he was a witness stated to at least one media outlet, MassLive, that Mooney had been struck twice in the head by a man wearing a Dolphins jersey.
Mooney lost consciousness and was pronounced dead later that night at a Massachusetts hospital.
Preliminary autopsy results indicated Mooney's death was the result of a "medical issue."
