ACTON - There will be a demonstration of traditional skills used in transforming lumber into wood products on Saturday at Hobbs Farm in Acton.

The exhibition runs from 1-3 p.m. at 651 Foxes Ridge Road.

Artisans will demonstrate "twitching," or hauling, logs with a team of horses, milling logs with a portable sawmill, hand hewing flat faces on a log with an adze, and chiseling mortise and tenon joints used in timber framing.

Eventgoers will get to try their hand at whittling and shaping with a drawknife.

The event is part of Woods All October, a series of sustainable forestry events throughout Southern Maine during October.

The events is organized by Three Rivers Land Trust.
