ROCHESTER - A man is behind bars today after police say he vandalized multiple cars at two Milton Road auto dealerships.
Rochester Police got involved after the received reports Thursday morning from First City Motors and from Healey Auto Repair for numerous vehicles that were vandalized.
In all 13 vehicles at First City and two at Healey Auto were damaged with the vandalism ranging from fire extinguishers being set off inside cars to smashed windshields to cars being keyed. Many exterior lights, mirrors, roofs and hoods were also damaged.
Both locations had video surveillance, which were used to identify a lone male as the potential suspect.
Just hours later, around 1 p.m., a patrol officer spotted a subject walking downtown North Main Street matching the description of the suspect, leading to the arrest of Paul J. Javaruski, 24, no known address.
Javaruski was charged with one felony charge of criminal mischief for the damage at First City and one felony count of criminal mischief at Healey Auto. The Healey Auto charges also include misdemeanor criminal mischief and theft.
Javaruski was held on no bail pending his arraignment today in Strafford Superior County Superior Court.
