ROCHESTER - We have so many things happening at the Library throughout April we hope you'll stop by and enjoy some of these events! Our Director, Marie LeJeune and Patron Services Supervisor, Katherine Parker-Wright are excited to be doing a new, twice-monthly podcast!

Goodbye to Melissa D

As a staff, we are all very sad that one of our most beloved coworkers is leaving us. Melissa D is well known to many of our patrons for her kindness, knowledge, and her superpower of knowing every patron's name and what they have on hold. She is leaving for an amazing full-time position in another field, so while we are sad as a staff to be losing her after so many years, we are very happy for her, and all wish her the very best in her new job!

Library Podcast

The City of Rochester is pleased to present an all-new podcast starring Rochester Public Library director Marie Lejeune and Patron Services Supervisor Katherine Parker-Wright.

Lejeune and Wright invite listeners to enjoy twice-monthly, light-hearted conversations full of humor, information, interviews, and much more. The podcast is available on a variety of podcast platforms including Spotify, Google, and RadioPublic. A link to the podcast can also be found on the Library website (www.rpl.lib.nh.us).

National Library Week

April 3-9 is National Library Week! Stop by the Main Desk and check out some books, DVDs, audiobooks, magazines or music CDs and get a surprise give-away with your receipt!

National Library Week Book Art

Another special way we are celebrating National Library Week is with a new book related original cartoon illustration each day of the week by staff member and syndicated cartoonist, Stephanie (and with the help of Main Desk Librarian and Social Media Goddess, Karyl). They will appear on our Facebook and Instagram, so check in each day to see what's posted! There will be a bookmark for each drawing available only on the day that drawing appears. If you want to collect the whole set, it's a great reason to visit the Library each day of next week! These are limited editions, so come early as they will be first come, first served!

True Crime Book Club

Our True Crime book for the month of April is The Man From The Train by Bill James. Our discussion will be held on Tuesday, April 26th, at 6 P.M. in the Rose Room. Books are available at the service desk on the top floor. This book club is hosted by our Programming Librarian, Abby.

Remembering the Titanic

Please join us for our Titanic program on Saturday, April 16th at 2 p.m. in the Community Room honoring the 110th anniversary of the Titanic tragedy. This presentation is suitable for ages 8 and older. Our presenter, Dillon Guyer, grew up in Rochester and was a patron here at the Library for many years. The program will consist of a presentation sharing facts about the ship itself and its fateful night. He will also allow people to handle some of the Titanic artifacts he has collected. He will be giving away a relic from the ship to one lucky child in attendance!

To register please visit the Main Desk or call (603)332-1428 ext. 2. Questions? Email Abby at Rplreference@rochesternh.net. We can't wait to see you there!

Red Cart Book Sale

The Little Red Book Sale Cart on the first floor has become a destination for our patrons and others visiting the Library. We are dedicated to offering a variety of books and DVDs for sale. We are happy to report that there will be a wonderful selection of DVDs for sale over the coming weeks. Stop by and see what surprises we have for your shopping pleasure.

Meet Our Staff: The Children's Room has returned to normal services and as a way to help introduce their talented staff to new and returning patrons they have been highlighting them in mini-bios. We'll be sharing these in this column over the next couple of weeks.

This week we are featuring: Sarah!

The Children's Room is lucky to have Sarah work with us weekday mornings and some Saturdays! Since 2003, Sarah has worked at the Rochester Public Library at the Main Circulation Desk and in Technical Services. Most recently, she joined the Youth Services department as the new Teen Librarian. Sarah is currently working on updating the YA collection and redecorating the Teen Room, adding YA titles on Playaway audiobook, and creating a Teen Advisory Board (TAB)! She is excited to announce that the Rochester Public Library will offer the 4-H Babysitting Course for youth ages 12 and up.

Sarah shares her home with her four kids, three cats, 2 fish and husband. She loves reading graphic novels and listening to audiobooks.
