ROCHESTER - Two Rochester women were seriously injured late Friday night when the pickup trucks they were driving crashed head-on on Salmon Fall Road.

The crash occurred in the area of Salmon Falls and Haven Hill roads when police say a Blue GMC Sierra driven by Danielle Lyons, 44, was traveling north on Salmon Falls Road when it appeared to cross the yellow center line and struck an oncoming vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup operated by Alana Breton, 35.

Police dispatch reports indicate that both women had to be extricated from their vehicles prior to transport for medical treatment.

Breton was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, and Lyons was transported first to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and later to a Boston hospital, both with serious, nonlife threatening injuries, police said.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.

Police say the accident remains under investigation, and charges could result.
