ROCHESTER - Two motorists from Rochester and one from Milton were among those involved in a three-vehicle crash on Betts Road on Tuesday.

The accident occurred a little before 4 p.m. when police say Tammy Brogan, 48, of Rochester, was traveling north on Cross Road in a Subaru Legacy; as she approached the Betts Road intersection a large truck heading eastbound on Betts Road was starting to enter the southbound side of Cross Road to view traffic.

Believing the truck was going to hit her vehicle, Brogan swerved to the right onto Betts Road to avoid a potential collision.

Brogan's vehicle then collided with a Nissan Altima that had been heading west on Betts Road and approaching the stop sign at Cross Road. The Nissan then struck a Ford E24 van that was also on Betts Road heading west toward Cross Road.

Brogan, and her passenger, David Dymond, 29, of Rochester, were taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.

Gwen Plante, 68, of Berwick, Maine, who was operating the Nissan, was also transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Craig Carlos, 58, of Milton, the operator of the Ford van, and a passenger, Richard Mannion, 57, of Skowhegan, Maine, were uninjured.

The Subaru and Nissan were towed from the scene.
