GONIC - Two motorists were injured Friday in a two-car crash on Gonic Road.

Police say the collision occurred when Ernest Farrington, 77, of Rochester, was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan and exited a parking lot to go north on Gonic Road.

As he pulled out onto the highway he collided with 2003 Honda Civic driven by Jayni Smith, 21 of Manchester, who was headed southbound.

Farrington and a passenger in his vehicle were taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.

Farrington was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way, a violation-level offense.

Both cars had to be towed from the scene.
