MILTON - Two Milton residents were severely burned on Saturday in a grease fire inside their Northeast Pond home.

The two, both women, were so badly burned they were both transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for treatment.

One of the victims was transported by a DHART helicopter that landed behind the Milton Elementary School, while the other was transported by ambulance to Frisbie Memorial Hospital then transferred by ambulance to Mass General.

A Milton Fire press release did not release the names of the victims.

One of the victims is gingerly loaded into a waiting ambulance.

The call came into Milton Fire and Rescue around 3:30 p.m. from a neighborhood resident who said they heard moaning and crying that got louder coming from the residence at 204 Northeast Pond Road. The neighborhood resident, who did not wish to be identified, said they would have gone to help but the property is home to several dogs they did not want to be confronted by.

They said they immediately called 911.

The Milton Animal Control Officer was on hand at the incident carrying a canine tether hook, but no dogs could be seen.

Neighbors, meanwhile, watched from their front lawns as both victims were carefully loaded into ambulances.

At MES Frisbie paramedics and Milton Fire and Rescue crews spent several minutes preparing the more seriously burned victim for transport as the DHART chopper stood by.

As soon as the patient was onboard it lifted slowly and headed south.

Farmington Fire and Rescue assisted with setting up the landing zone.

The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office will follow up on the incident, according to the press release from Milton Fire and Rescue.
