VASSALBORO, Maine - Two new State Troopers are headed to the Troop A Alfred barracks and will join the ranks of those who routinely patrol Lebanon.

Coming on board in Alfred are State Troopers William Pusey and Zachary Fancy.

Pusey grew up in Kennebunk and graduated from Cheverus High School in Portland. He also is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and is a member of the Army National Guard.

Fancy grew up in Scarborough and central New York. He is a graduate of the Pulaski (NY) High School and Jefferson Community College. He has worked for a manufacturing company in Buffalo, N.Y., and in a restaurant.

They are two of Maine's eight newest troopers receiving their badges today in ceremonies at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.

The new troopers completed 10 weeks of specialized State Police training, which is in addition to the 18 weeks of training required for all Maine police officers.

The new troopers will now patrol with a veteran trooper before patrolling on their own.

Administrating the oath of office was the Chief of the State Police, Colonel Robert Williams, who told the new troopers, " You will have a huge impact on the communities you serve. People will call you because they expect you can solve all of their problems and sometimes your presence is all that is needed. Treat everyone with respect and dignity."
