Two pedestrians hurt in separate city accidents

ROCHESTER - Two pedestrians were struck by vehicles on Friday in separate accidents across the city.

The first accident occurred around 2:45 p.m., in the area of 77 South Main St. Police say that Alice Wauqulez, 23 of Durham, N.H., was traveling southbound in a 2004 Chrysler 300 when Wauqulez's vehicle and a 15-year-old juvenile were both in the crosswalk.

The juvenile was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital by EMS with what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

The cause of this accident is still under investigation.

A few hours later around 5 p.m. Police responded to the area of 1 Wakefield St. where they learned a 1999 Dodge Durango being driven by Joseph Dixon, 58, of 13 Moores Court, Rochester, was merging onto Wakefield Street from North Main Street when he struck Rachel Caldon, 29, of Rochester.

Caldon was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.

She was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital to be treated for what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

Dixon's vehicle did not suffer any damage.

He was issued a summons for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
