ROCHESTER - The leafed through books, then they left with them, police say.

Two women who allegedly stole several books from the Rochester Library have been identified by police, but their names will not be released until an investigation has been completed, a police spokesman said on Thursday.

The alleged theft of 11 books took place two weeks ago with video showing one of the women secreting the goods out in her purse, according to Rochester Police Capt. Gary Boudreau.

And it's all very mystical. Titles of the books the pair absconded with are of a metaphysical bent, including Encyclopedia of Astrology, The Witch's Shield and Dictionary of Dream Symbols.

Boudreau said an alarm went off when the pair left, and officials later viewed video of the pair entering the library.

The women could be fined up to $1,200 if found guilty.
