ROCHESTER - A man was arrested today in Rochester for allegedly breaking into a downtown apartment.

The man, identified as Andrew Hanson, 31, of 46 North Ave., Sanford, was taken into custody after a man called police around 6: 15 a.m. to say an apartment he was checking on at 134 North Main St. had been entered by another man not authorized to be there.

The man fled, and police caught up with Hanson a short time later.

Hanson was charged with resisting arrest, giving false reports to law enforcement and criminal trespass.

While processing the arrest it was learned he had active warrants out of Maine, which resulted in an additional felony fugitive charge. He also had an open warrant for theft by unauthorized taking from Rochester Police from a previous theft investigation at Walmart.

Hanson is currently being held without bail at the Strafford County Jail pending an arraignment Monday at Strafford County Superior Court.
