CONCORD - The cause of death of a male victim in a Concord house fire on Sunday has been identified following an autopsy by the state's medical examiner.
Alexis Palmacci, 77, of 2 Rhodora Court, died of smoke inhalation, and his manner of death was accidental, officials say.
A call for a medical alert sent first responders to the Rhodora Cout address around 3:30 a.m. where they found smoke coming out of the front door.
Firefighters then began an immediate search and found Palmacci deceased on one floor of the home and an adult female who was found sleeping and rescued from another floor.
The surviving victim is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
A preliminary investigation determined there were no working smoke alarms on the floor of the home where the fire started and Palmacci was found.
The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office, Concord Fire Department and the Concord Police Department are actively investigating the origin and cause of the fire. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is encouraged to contact the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office at (603) 223-4289 or fmo@dos.nh.gov.
