Wakefield motorcyclist seriously hurt in Milton crash

MILTON - A 50-year-old Wakefield man was seriously injured on Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a minivan at the Exit 18 interchange in Milton.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. when police say the minivan, which was headed north on Route 125, turned left onto the Spaulding Turnpike to head south and collided with the motorcycle which was headed southbound on Route 125 toward downtown Milton.

The Wakefield man, who was not identified, was Medflighted by DHART helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, with what were described as serious injuries.

The interchange was shut down for a short time while the helicopter landed on Route 125 to pick up the patient.

A minor traveling on the back of the bike received what were described as very minor injuries.

The driver and passenger of the minivan, a male and female in their 70s, were taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for observation.

An accident reconstruction team was on hand at the scene much of the afternoon.
