A Wakefield woman was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a Rochester car crash that injured a Farmington woman last summer.

Jennifer Rothwell, 33, of 64 Rines Road, was charged with vehicular assault, a Class A misdemeanor.

Rothwell turned herself into police upon hearing an arrest warrant had been issued.

The arrest is the result of a collision that occurred on Farmington Road on July 17.  According to police, the collision occurred when a Ford Ranger operated by Rothwell, who was eastbound on Farmington Road., collided with a Chevrolet Impala that was entering Farmington Road from the ramp. The Chevrolet was driven by an elderly Farmington woman.

The investigation revealed that Rothwell entered the intersection against a red light when she struck the other vehicle, police said.

The collision resulted in the driver of the Chevrolet sustaining what is defined by statute as serious bodily injury.

Rothwell was released on $3,500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear at the 7th Circuit Rochester District Court in March.
